Akizungumza na The Associated Press kwa simu kutoka nyumbani kwake katika Croix des Bouquets, Jean alisema wanasheria yake faili la rufaa na ofisi ya Taifa ya Uchaguzi mgogoro.

Haiti's Election Board waliukataa ugombea wa Wyclef Jean ijumaa usiku kutokana na kwamba waliamua kwamba hajakamilisha mahitaji ya uraia ingawa bodi hiyo wanaelezea sababu maalum. Chini ya sheria Haiti, mgombea urais lazima awe na kuishi nchini kwa miaka mitano mfululizo  hadi uchaguzi.
